Beowulf Boast

For use in creating a boasts c reading Beowulf. Students will use gained knowledge in Anglo-Saxon poetry to elevate their boasts in ways that would make Beowulf proud.

Boasting 40 pts Talk with excessive pride, self-satisfaction about one's achievements, possessions, or abilities. Include universal themes seen in heroic epics (ie feats of strength, bravery, etc).	Needs Improvement Boast was simplistic and may have addressed inappropriate topics. Did not contain universal themes from heroic epics.	Satisfactory Boast was original and mostly appropriate. Anglo-Saxon Poetic Elements 15 pts Kennings - metaphorical compound word or phrase (as swan-road for ocean) used especially in Old English and Old Norse poetry. Must include 3 Alliteration - repetition of initial consonant sounds in two or more neighboring words or syllables. Hyperbole - extravagant exaggeration beginning with only the smallest grain of truth.	Needs Improvement Presentation contained no kennings Presentation contained little or no alliteration. Presentation contained minimal examples of hyperboles.	Satisfactory Presentation contained one kenning. Presentation contained some alliteration, though it may not have been entirely purposeful.
