	Excellent 4 pts	Good 3 pts	Fair 2 pts	Poor 1 pts
Preparation	Excellent Student is well prepared and it is obvious that he/she rehearsed his/her poem thoroughly.	Good Student is well prepared but the presentation of the poem requires a few more rehearsals.	Fair Student is not well prepared and would benefit from many more rehearsals.	Poor Student is obviously unprepared for the task. No evidence of any rehearsals.
Pronunciation/Fluency	Excellent Spanish is very clear and spoken without any hesitation. Pronunciation is very good with no errors (maybe 1).	Good Spanish is clear and spoken without hesitation. Pronunciation is good with a few minor errors, but does not interfere with the overall presentation.	Fair Spanish is clear with a few moments of hesitation. Pronunciation is average with minor errors that interfere with the overall presentation.	Poor Spanish is not clear and/or several moments of hesitation. Pronunciation is poor and/or major errors that interfere with the overall presentation.
Clarity and Expression	Excellent The student speaks clearly, distinctly, and with appropriate and varied pitch and tone modulation. Recites loudly enough for all to hear throughout presentation.	Good The student speaks clearly and distinctly. Some minor lapses in pitch, tone and volume OR the emotion conveyed did not fit the content OR emphasis is uneven.	Fair The student speaks clearly but is, at times, indistinct, too quiet, and/or pitch is rarely used OR the emotion it conveyed often did not fit the content.	Poor The student does not speak clearly, mispronounces words and is inaudible to the audience. Spoken in monotone.
Report	Excellent The report is at least 300 words and includes either a translation or summary of the poem, the significance of the poem, and biographical information about the poet.	Good The report is less than 300 but more than 150 words and includes either a translation or summary of the poem, the significance of the poem, and biographical information about the poet.	Fair The report is less than 150 words and includes either a translation or summary of the poem, the significance of the poem, and biographical information about the poet. OR The report is 300 words but omits one of the required topics.	Poor The report is less than 150 words and omits one or more of the required topics. OR The report is 300 words but omits two of the required topics
