Greetings/Introductions/Vocabulary
Greetings/Introductions Unit 1 PTA
Each of the tables will form groups and develop a skit that demonstrates professionalism and the use of new vocabulary in different situations. Using the information on the Home Page of the Introduction to Culinary Arts web site the students will follow the discussion guidelines and play one or two of the discussion roles. You will preselect your discussion role and then receive the scene setting for the skit from the chef.

Presentation
Excellent
Students created a teachable moment by bring together different vocabularies and correctly using the terms. The group exceeded expectations by clearly defining what they were demonstrating and following through with a skit that showed an understanding of the assignment.
Average
Student demonstrated proficiency with one of the vocabularies. They used the terms correctly but did not progress past basic use. All of the group members did contribute but it was obvious there wasn't the same level of engagement for everyone.
Needs Improvment
Student failed to demonstrate knowledge or evidence of a new vocabulary being acquired. What words that were used appeared to be out of context for the material. The presentation came off as haphazard and unprepared.
Effort
Excellent
Group members used their time effectively and remained on task. The group delegated parts of the process so each student had the opportunity to contribute something significant to the skit. All group members were committed to the success of the project and all group members took advantage of dressing professionally for an extra 10 points.
Average
Group members somewhat used their time effectively and remained on task part of the time. However, they failed to capitalize on a good idea and presented something that was a message, not a teachable moment. Some, but not all of group members took the time to dress professionally.
Needs Improvment
Group members did not use their time effectively and did not remain on task to complete assignment.
Written Skit
Excellent
Student demonstrated mastery by using all new vocabulary correctly. At least three different list were utilized and the words were correct used in context with the skit.
Average
Student demonstrated proficiency in the vocabulary list they choose but did not push it further.
Needs Improvment
Student failed to demonstrate knowledge of the vocabulary related to greetings, introductions, or business.
