Expressionism Painting
A rubric that properly evaluates the artistic process. It measures the various phases and approaches that are necessary in the assessment of a project or a work of art. Students are to create a portfolio of all three of their expressionism pieces completed in class. Each piece focuses on a few crucial expressionism characteristics.

The artwork shows outstanding art making skills, with clear attention to control, selection and experimentation of medium/media for expressing an emotion.
Recreation of medium artwork visible and improved upon with a lot more detail creating an entire expressionistic artwork piece.
DETAILED
The artwork shows good art making skills with some attention to control, selection and experimentation of medium/media for expressing an emotion. Recreation of medium is visible with some added detail to create the emotion of the piece.

The artwork shows average art making skills and average attention to control, selection and experimentation of medium/media for expressing an emotion. Recreation of medium had average added detail to make it into an expressionistic piece.

The artwork shows very minimal art making skills and no attention to control, selection and experimentation of medium/media for expressing an emotion. Recreation of medium shows no relation to play dough creation and does not represent expressionism art.

EXCELLENT
The artwork demonstrates original personal expression. Strong emotion must be visible in the painting. Colors must support the emotion.
DETAILED
The artwork demonstrates some personal expression and logical behind the colors and shape of the painting created.
MET CRITERIA
The artwork demonstrates an average amount of personal expression in their painting.
LITTLE-NO EFFORT
The artwork lacks evidence of personal expression.
Conceptual Growth
EXCELLENT
Experimented with many different techniques and took significant advice from peers to improve the communicative qualities of the strong emotion attempting to be represented.
