Expressionism Painting 
A rubric that properly evaluates the artistic process. It measures the various phases and approaches that are necessary in the assessment of a project or a work of art. Students are to create a portfolio of all three of their expressionism pieces completed in class. Each piece focuses on a few crucial expressionism characteristics.

Subjective use of color. Color choices for emotions can be explained by student. Will recreate Their favorite expressionism piece and create explanation for it. May change up some color use and explained why in written explanation.

Craftsmanship/ Skill: Play Dough

The artwork shows outstanding art making skills, with clear attention to control, selection and experimentation of medium/media for expressing an emotion.
Recreation of medium artwork visible and improved upon with a lot more detail creating an entire expressionistic artwork piece.

The artwork shows good art making skills with some attention to control, selection and experimentation of medium/media for expressing an emotion. Recreation of medium is visible with some added detail to create the emotion of the piece.
MET CRITERIA

The artwork shows average art making skills and average attention to control, selection and experimentation of medium/media for expressing an emotion. Recreation of medium had average added detail to make it into an expressionistic piece.

The artwork shows minimal art making skills and little attention to control, selection and experimentation of medium/media for expressing an emotion. Recreation of medium had no added detail to make it an expressionistic piece.

The artwork shows very minimal art making skills and no attention to control, selection and experimentation of medium/media for expressing an emotion. Recreation of medium shows no relation to play dough creation and does not represent expressionism art.

The artwork demonstrates original personal expression. Strong emotion must be visible in the mask. Colors must support the emotion.

The artwork demonstrates an average amount of personal expression in their mask.

The artwork demonstrates little personal expression if any emotion at all.

The artwork lacks evidence of personal expression.

The student put forth little effort required to finish the project; class time was not used well.
LITTLE-NO EFFORT

The student put forth no effort or the project was not completed; class time was not used well.
