Structure	Excellent Play thoughtfully follows the proposed structure, and it is clear that all scenes center on one theme and flow smoothly together.	Good Play follows the proposed structure, and it is clear that all scenes center on one theme.	Fair Play attempts to follow structure, but sections are somewhat unclear and/or not all scenes seem to center on one theme.	Needs Work Play does not follow the proposed structure and/or scenes are randomly put together.
Dialogue	Excellent Dialogue is realistic and interesting. Lines are short; characters interrupt one another, answer questions, change subjects.	Good Dialogue is somewhat realistic and interesting. Lines are short; characters occasionally interrupt one another, etc.	Fair Dialogue is hardly realistic or interesting. Lines may be wordy, and characters speak too politely/formally.	Needs Work Dialogue is extremely unrealistic.
Development	Excellent Audience gains sufficient insight into the characters and the conflict. Scene either pits a character with his/her greatest fear or new alliances develop.	Good Audience gains some insight into the characters and the conflict. Holes may exist, but the situation is explained and explored. Nuts and Bolts (Play Formatting))	Excellent The vignette play script is formatted perfectly, per the example provided in class, and has no issues with grammar or spelling.	Good The vignette playscript is typed and clear. However, there are minor errors either in formatting or clarity (grammar, spelling, etc.)	Fair The vignette play script is typed, but for many reasons including formatting or grammar and spelling, it is not easy to follow.
