Thesis Statement	Good Thesis is clear and found at the beginning of the opening or first paragraph. Thesis presents a clear topic for the rest of the paper.	Fair Thesis is present and near of in the proper place. Thesis expresses the main topic, however it is not as strong as it could be. There does not fully express the main topic.	Poor Thesis is missing or not a true thesis. Thesis does not relate to the paper or express the main idea of the paper.
Paragraphs	Good Each paragraph flows to the next paragraph. Paragraphs follow a logical order. Each paragraph relates to the topic under discussion. Ideas are logically separated into paragraphs.	Fair Some paragraphs flow to the next paragraph. Most paragraphs follow a logical order.	Poor Paragraphs do not follow a logical order. Paragraphs are out of order. Ideas are not logically categorized in paragraphs.
Style	Good Ideas flow from one sentence to another. There is a logical sequence in the sentences and explanations are clear. Transitions between quotes and explanations are clear.	Fair Some ideas do not flow to the next sentence. Occasionally lacks a logical sentence sequence. Quotes are occasionally dropped.	Poor Ideas do not easily flow from one sentence to another. There is no logical sequence in the placement of the sentences. Transitions between the quotes and explanations do not exist. Dropped quotes exist.
APA Format	Good Each reference is properly cited in the bibliography portion of the essay.	Fair Bibliography follows some of the rules of APA format.	Poor Bibliography is incorrectly formatted or non existent.
