Student presents completed project in perfect condition. The seam is 5/8 inch all the way around the square. Backstitched at the beginning and the end of the seam.
Proficient

Student presents completed project in good condition. Has completed all steps in order to present a completed project with minor assistance. 5/8 inch seam on three sides. Back stitched at the beginning and the end.
Basic

Student presents completed project in fair condition. Has completed project with maximum assistance. 5/8 inch seam was sewn part of the time. There is some evidence of back stitching
Below Expectations

Student presents uncompleted project in poor condition. Has not completed project with or without assistance. 5/8 inch seam was not sewn. There is some evidence of back stitching or back stitching was sewn on the whole square.
Non-performance

Student refused to attempt to complete project at all. 5/8 inch seam was not sewn. There is no evidence of any back stitching.
2 straight rows of stitches

Students will present completed project for final test of their ability to successfully thread a machine and bobbin, operate the machine.

Distinguished

Student presents completed project in perfect condition. Has completed all steps in order to present a completed project without any assistance. Rows are backstitched at beginning and end.
Proficient

Student presents completed project in good condition. Has completed all steps in order to present a completed project with minor assistance. One or more rows are back stitched at the end.
Basic

Student presents completed project in fair condition. Has completed project with maximum assistance. No rows are back stitched or wrong stitch was used.
Below Expectations

Student presents uncompleted project in poor condition. Has not completed project with or without assistance. Wrong stitch was used and none of the rows had back stitching or back stitching was used more than it should have been.
Non-performance

Student refused to attempt to complete project at all. Only one row of straight stitching was completed and there was no back stitching or to much of the row was back stitched.

Student refused to attempt to complete project at all.
4 Decorative Stitches

Distinguished

Student presents completed project in perfect condition. Has completed all steps in order to present a completed project without any assistance.
Proficient

Student presents completed project in good condition. Has completed all steps in order to present a completed project with minor assistance. Decorative stitching was done correctly.
Basic

Student presents completed project in fair condition. Has completed project with maximum assistance. Some of the rows of decorative stitching were completed correctly.
Below Expectations

Student presents uncompleted project in poor condition. Has not completed project with or without assistance. One or two rows of decorative stitching was completed correctly.
Non-performance

Student refused to attempt to complete project at all. No rows of decorative stitching were completed.
