The Outsiders character analysis and connection

Students will use explicit details from The Outsiders text to analyze and synthesize the character. He or she will then compare and contrast the character in a separate diagram. This will be presented to the class.

Average/Good Character is mostly analyzed using details from the text. Character is beginning to come to live.	Below/Fair The character is analyzed but there are no supporting details from the text. Character is flat.	Poor The character is thought about and there is no supporting details from the text. The character is almost non-existent.
Character Connection	Above/Exceeds Student makes and explains connections to the character using explicit details from the text to justify thoughts and beliefs. At least 5 connections.	Average/Good Student makes a connection to the character but does not fully explain using the details from the text. 3-4 connections	Below/Fair Student seems to make connections but cannot justify answers. 2 connections or less.	Poor No connection or involvement with character.
Character Diagram	Above/Exceeds Diagram is clean and structured with fully laid out categories with at least 5 traits in each category.
