Ideas and content 25 % Subject Matter	Excellent The five full page entries are clear focused, thoughtful and reflective. Literary elements as well as a variety of ideas enrich the central theme of each entry.	Average One or more entries are less than a full page, but there is a clear topic in each entry and some basic development of ideas.	Poor There seems to be no sense of purpose for the writing and details are sketchy if given at all. Confusing information needs clarification.
Voice 25 % Style and sophistication of presentation	Excellent The entries hold the reader's attention and the use of literary and/or sensory elements enables the reader to feel as well as picture what's happening. The writer speaks to the reader in a way that is engaging and compelling.	Average The writing seems sincere, but the writer seems uninterested or disconnected from what they are writing; not fully engaged. The resulting writing is not compelling for the reader.	Poor The writer has no awareness of audience at all for the entries.
Organization 25 % Structure and format	Excellent There is a pattern of organization that enhances the central idea and is compelling for the reader making it easy to move through the text.	Average Partially organized so that the reader can move through the text easily.	Poor There is not a clear sense of direction in the writing, the writing is random, details and/or ideas follow no specific pattern that can be understood.
