Fair Introduction draws reader into the subject but has limited development of theme and sets tone.	Good Introduction draws reader into the subject quickly and enthusiastically, begins development of theme and sets appropriate tone.
Relation to audience (25)	Poor Speech fails to inspire and motivate intended audience and seldom makes interesting connections to audience.	Fair Speech somewhat inspires and motivates intended audience and makes occasional interesting connections to audience.	Good Speech clearly inspires and motivates intended audience and makes consistent interesting connections to audience.
Clarity of message (25)	Poor Speech is disorganized without an overarching theme.	Fair Speech is adequately organized with a theme, but it is not unified in the introduction and conclusion.	Good Speech is well organized with an overarching theme which is unified in the introduction and conclusion.
Conventions (25 points)	Poor Writing has many mechanical/grammatical errors.	Fair Writing demonstrates adequate command of the English language; with 3-4 errors.	Good Writing demonstrates mastery of the English language, format, grammar, and punctuation with only 1-2 mechanical errors.
