Student speaks rapidly making conversation difficult to understand some of the time, but responds appropriately to a single prompt, or confirmation that a listener is not understanding.

Student speaks at a normal rate most of the time. Student may speak rapidly occasionally, but is able to recognize when it has a negative impact on listeners, and self corrects.

Student talks without being understood and without any attempts to correct errors.
