HAND POSITIONS Placement of fingers on the fretboard/keyboard.	Level 4 Shifts from one note to another in a relaxed, fluid manner using creative fingerings to accommodate passages.	Level 3 Shifts from one note to another accurately with a relaxed, fluid motion.	Level 2 Shifts from one note to another with a somewhat fluid motion and accuracy level.	Level 1 Understands concept of shifting and is working toward accuracy and fluidity.
CHORDS Fingering and strumming multiple strings; smoothness of transitions.	Level 4 Plays all chords with precision and fluency in a proper, steady tempo, demonstrates advanced technique in transportation from chord to chord.	Level 3 Plays all chords accurately in a steady tempo.	Level 2 Plays most chords accurately, varying tempo when necessary to accommodate unfamiliar chord transportation.	Level 1 Begins to play some chords accurately varying tempo when necessary to accommodate transportation from chord to chord.
