Ideas & Content	Excellent The entry is clear and focused. It holds the reader’s attention. Relevant anecdotes and details enrich the central theme.	Average The writer is beginning to define the topic, even though development is still basic and/or general.	Fair As of yet, the entry has no sense of purpose or central theme. To extract meaning from text, reader must make inferences based on sketchy or missing details.
Organization	Excellent The organization enhances and showcases the central idea or theme. The order, structure or presentation of the information is compelling and moves the reader through the text.	Average The organization is strong enough to move reader through text without too much confusion.	Fair The writing lacks a clear sense of direction. Ideas, details or events seem strung together in a loose or random fashion.
Voice	Excellent The writer speaks to the reader in a way that is individual, compelling and engaging.	Average The writer seems sincere but not fully engage. The result is pleasant and personable but not compelling.	Fair The writer seems indifferent, uninvolved or distant from the topic and/or audience.
Presentation	Excellent The form and presentation of the text enhances the ability for the reader to understand and connect with the message. It is pleasing to the eye.	Average The writer’s message is understandable in this format.	Fair The reader receives a distorted message due to the problems relating to the presentation of the text.
Number of entries	Excellent The writer has presented an entry for every day of the school week i.e. a five day week will have five entries and a four day week will have four entries, etc. Each entry is properly dated and is at least a page if it is written in prose format.	Average The writer has presented at least 3 entries for the week. Each entry is properly dated and is at least a page if it is written in prose format.
