Organization	Poor No organization or structure to the essay. There is no differentiation between intro, body, and conclusion.	Fair A little organization, but still very difficult to follow. You may have an intro, but all body paragraphs are together. You may or may not have a conclusion.	Good Essay is organized, but one or two things are out of place/should be in another part of the essay. Your essay parts (intro, body, conclusion) are fairly easy to recognize.	Great Essay is well organized and easy to follow. You have a clear intro, body paragraphs (2-3), and a conclusion.
Thesis/Stance	Poor I can not tell what your stance on the issue is.	Fair I can somewhat infer what your stance is, but it is not 100% clear. You do not specifically state your stance.	Good You hint at your stance and do write toward that stance, but you never directly state your stance or it is not the last line of your introduction when it is stated.	Great You have your stance as the last sentence of your introduction.
Examples (body)	Poor You do not give examples from any of the places suggested to you.	Fair You may use one example from the different suggestions given to you.	Good You utilize the examples you could draw from (movie, TV, self, etc.), but your explanation of those isn't very clear. You revised the final copy but made no marks to your original.	Great You turned in your original and your final copy. You made revisions and edits to your original and fixed it in your final copy.
