Independent Reading One-Pager 
A one-pager is a way of responding to a book on one piece of paper. It represents your own written and graphic interpretation of what you have read. In this report, you will show facts and information about the book, as well as creating a visual representation of the book.

Response indicates an understanding of the guiding question and the text. The response is accurate and fulfills all the requirements of the task, but the required support and/or details are not complete or clearly text-based.
Fair

Response indicates a partial understanding of the guiding question and the text. The response may include information that is essentially correct and text-based, but the information is too general or too simplistic. Some of the support and/or examples and requirements of the task may be incomplete or omitted.
Poor

Response indicates a very limited understanding of the guiding question and the text. The response is incomplete, may exhibit many flaws, and may not address all requirements of the task.
Unacceptable

Response is inaccurate, confused, and/or irrelevant, or has failed to respond to the task.
Appearance

Excellent

The project is very neat, clear, and shows that there was a lot of time and effort put into it. The border is neat and is a good representation of the novel.
Good

The project includes all of the required details but it is not as neat and well-organized as it should be.
Fair

The project lacks neatness and looks like there was little effort put into it. The information isn't organized well on the paper. The border does not relate to the novel.
Poor

The project is sloppy and disorganized. It looks like it was done at the last minute. The border is only partial, does not surround the entire one-pager, and does not represent the novel.
Unacceptable

The project is extremely sloppy and disorganized or large sections are missing.

Excellent

The summary includes the major plot points presented in chronological order. The audience understands the story and characters.

The summary has most of the major plot points and is a good representation of the story overall. The audience may have questions about the novel, but has a general ides of the storyline.
Fair

The summary lacks enough details for the audience to understand the plot of the novel. However, the events seem to be in chronological order.
Poor

The summary lacks details and is not in chronological order. The audience can get a general idea of the plot.
Unacceptable

The summary does not give plot details or they are not organized in a manner that allows the audience to have an idea about the plot or ideas presented in the story.
Vocabulary

Excellent

The one-pager has two vocabulary words from the novel with definitions and illustrations. The page number is shown for each vocabulary word is included.
Good

The one-pager has two vocabulary words, but the definitions do not show the correct meaning as used int he novel.
Fair

The one-pager includes only one vocabulary word, but all required details are included for that word.
Poor

The one-pager includes only one word, but all required details are not included.
Unacceptable

The one-pager does not include any vocabulary words.
Setting

Excellent

The one-pager includes details on the setting and how it adds to the plot of the book. The illustrations give the audience an understanding and feel of the setting.
Good

The one-pager includes general information on the setting, but does not indicate how it relates to the plot of the novel. The illustrations are not as detailed or neat as possible.
Fair

The one-pager provides only limited information on the setting. The illustrations do not show much effort.
Poor

The one-pager either includes no information on the setting or does not include an illustration.
Unacceptable

The one-pager does not have any information about the setting.
Presentation

Excellent

1. The two minute time period is well-thought out and organized.
2. All important information about the book is presented. 3.
3. Personal connections to the text are included.
4. A review of the novel is included.
