Mime
Mime
Students will work in a small group to create and perform a scene using mime. They will be expected to demonstrate the use of story structure, character and several mime illusions during their performance. Each member of the group is required to include these mime illusions: walking, drinking from a glass, window, door, book, leaning, and blowing up a balloon...other illusions, of course, may be included.

In-Class Rehearsal Time
Mastering
You consistently and visibly demonstrated a strong sense of work ethic and collaboration with your group. Clearly observed you contributing to the creation of your story and rehearsing during class time. You also actively involved all members of your group.
Progressing
You were able to work within a group setting most, but not all of the time. Observed you off task during the rehearsal days. You were engaged with all your group members during the creation of your story as well as your rehearsals; however, there were times when you were not working effectively on perfecting your miming performance.
Beginning
You have shown little to no evidence that you were working positively with your group. Had to be reminded to stay on task and get back to work. In addition, you needed reminders to complete simple tasks such as cooperating with others and contributing to the creation of your story and rehearsing your mimed story.
Mime
Mastering
You effectively created and mimed a character using facial expressions, eye contact, and effective movement/ body posture for your character and your story. You effectively used miming skills to enhance your group's story telling to the audience, remained in character throughout the entire performance and demonstrated the required mime skills.
Progressing
You created and mimed a character using some facial expressions, some movement and body posture. You demonstrated some miming skills. At times you take away from the group's story telling to the audience because you did not remain in character through the entire performance. You demonstrated most of the required mime skills.
Beginning
There is some evidence that you attempted to mime a character by using facial expressions, movement, or body posture. However, you did not not use all of the techniques, or only used them sporadically. You demonstrated little to no miming skills. During your group's performance, you did not remain in character.
Story and Creativity
Mastering
You created an imaginative story that included a conflict and resolution, clear setting and characters and creatively used the required mime illusions. You consistently used correct physical position based on your story. You effectively used imaginary object(s), in addition to being aware of its placement, size, weight, shape, etc. You understood the structure of your mimed story and it was clear to the audience as to what was being presented.
Progressing
You created a story that had a somewhat clear setting and conflict and characters. Most of the time you used correct physical position based in your story. You were not always aware of your surroundings during the performance. You tried to use imaginary object(s), but were not effective with regards to the object's placement, size, weight, shape, etc. You mostly understood the structure of your mimed story. Some aspects of your story were clear to the audience.
