Short Answer Response, this maybe used for common chapter questions requiring one to two sentences or short written response questions that require more than one to two sentences to answer.

Restates Question 4 pts Restates Topic Question	Exceptional All critical parts of the original question are used in the restatement of the original question to begin the response.	Good Most of the original question is used and restated to form the beginning of the response.	Fair Some of the information from the original question was used to restate the question and create a response.	Poor Little information from the original question is used in the response provided.	Unacceptable Did not answer question.
Content 5 pts	Exceptional Answers are comprehensive, accurate and complete. Key ideas are clearly stated, explained, and supported with facts, knowledge and details.	Good Answers are accurate and complete. Key points are stated and supported.	Fair Answers are not comprehensive or completely stated. Key points are addressed, but not well supported.	Poor Answers are partial or incomplete. Key points are not clear. Question not adequately answered.	Unacceptable Did not answer question.
Artistry 5 pts Student shows creativity in phrasing, word choice and form.	Exceptional Sentences have above grade level word choice. Sentences structure and phrasing varies and engages the reader.	Good Sentences have great word choice. Sentences structure and phrasing varies but answer is simply stated.	Fair Words chosen are misused or awkwardly placed. Sentences structure and phrasing is simple, and somewhat repetitive.	Poor Simple words, phrases and sentence structure used, and/or repeated.	Unacceptable Did not answer question.
Organization 4 pts (Answers are clearly thought out and articulated.)	Exceptional Response is well organized, coherently developed, and easy to follow.	Good Organization is mostly clear and easy to follow.	Fair Response has inadequate organization or development. Structure of the answer is not easy to follow.	Poor Organization and structure detract from the answer.	Unacceptable Did not answer question.
Writing Conventions 4 pts (Spelling, punctuation, grammar, and complete sentences.)	Exceptional Displays no errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure.
