This assessment is designed as a checklist to see if students are understanding and following the listening process. This rubric will help teachers understand where students are in terms of listening comprehension.

Listening Process	Poor Student is having a hard time receiving, attending, and assigning meaning to spoken English words.	Fair Student is receiving information, but is having a hard time attending to it and assigning meaning to spoken English words.	Good Student is comprehending what is being said because they are receiving, attending, and assigning meaning to spoken English words.
Listening Ability	Poor Student does not demonstrate ability to listen to others.	Fair Student listens most of the time to others.	Good Student listens attentively and respectfully to others.
Remembering Information	Poor Student is struggling to remember what was said.	Fair Student uses strategies to enhance listening abilities and answers most of what was said.	Good Student listens critically, therefore is able to evaluate and remember all information.
Eye Contact	Poor Student does not look at speaker when he or she is talking	Fair Student makes eye contact with speaker most of the time.	Good Student makes eye contact with speaker all of the time.
Body Language and Posture	Poor Student has difficulty demonstrating appropriate posture and body language when listening to others.	Fair Student demonstrates posture and body language most of the time when listening to others.	Good Student encourages speaker through appropriate use of posture and body language.
