Introduction	Excellent Effort Clever attention-getting introduction with a clear indication of the topic and major points to be discussed.	Great Effort Introduction orients the audience to topic and theme, but is not engaging. The audience has an idea of what is to follow.	Good Effort Introduction establishes the topic or the theme but not both. Not attention-getting.	Fair Effort Introduction does not grab attention. There is not an easily identifiable topic or idea of the major points to be discussed.
Content: Evidence	Excellent Effort Uses at least four supporting and relevant hadiths and/or verses from the Quran.	Great Effort Uses at least three supporting and relevant hadiths and/or verses from the Quran.	Good Effort Uses at least two supporting and relevant hadiths and/or verses from the Quran.	Fair Effort Uses at least one supporting and relevant hadith and/or verse rom the Quran.
Content: Information	Excellent Effort Demonstrates strong familiarity with the topic. Thoroughly explains to listeners the details of the topic.	Great Effort Demonstrates good familiarity with the topic. Explains to listeners very generally the situation/topic.	Good Effort Demonstrates familiarity with the topic and is able to communicate this familiarity to listeners.	Fair Effort Attempts explanation of the situation with little, visible familiarity.
Conclusion	Excellent Effort Completely demonstrates through summary how all the major points were addressed. Creative connection back to the introduction. Thesis statement restated.	Great Effort Effectively demonstrates how the speech has addressed the thesis and main points but does not include a creative method of remembrance for the audience.	Good Effort Provides some type of summary, but does not elaborate on the thesis or major points.	Fair Effort Speech concludes without a summary and/or restatement of thesis or main points. The speech seems to stop or the speaker uses some variation of "That's about it."
