Organization	Poor Essay is not organized into sub-topics that support the thesis.	Fair Organization is unclear or the essay does not remain focused on the play.	Very Good Essay is organized into sub-topics that explore the novel and support the thesis.	Excellent The essay's organization supports the thesis and remains focused on one aspect of the literature with insightful discussion of the play.
Topic Sentences/Transitions	Poor Topic sentences are unclear or merely begin to give details instead of providing a topic. No transitions between paragraphs.	Fair Topic sentences are fairly clear; connection to thesis is not as obvious as it should be. Some transitions between paragraphs.
