A Model of Our Solar System

Students will take their knowledge of our solar system and create a 3-dimensional model of it. The planets should be in the correct order and be relatively proportioned to each other. This project is worth 200 points and is due April 8. Each student will have to present their project to the class, so they should come prepared to discuss how their 3-D solar system model was created and be able to discuss the solar system and a little about each planet.

Appearance and Creativity	Excellent Project's appearance is clean and polished with no distractive elements. All planets are correctly proportioned to each other.	Good The projects' appearance is somewhat poor. Some distractive elements. ie.. handwriting could have been improved. The proportions are close but there are a couple mistakes.	Poor The project's appearance is quite poor. Many distractive elements. Little attempt to add color or originality. Project has sloppy appearance.
Images & Models	Excellent There is large amounts of creativity being shown. All planets have their correct colors and imagination has been used when designing the solar system model.	Good Some thought has been put into the project. There is some color and the planets are close to their correct color and size. Creativity is not quite there.	Poor Very little or no creativity and sizes were not varied. Minimal color is used. Materials are incomplete and not organized. A lack of effort is apparent.
Content of Facts	Excellent The project content is exemplary and suggests the student has discovered the important ideas of the solar system.	Good The project content is good and suggest the student has discovered some of the important facts of the solar system, but need more.	Poor The project content is poor and suggests the student has not done sufficient research.
Knowledge	Excellent The model demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the solar system investigated.	Good The model demonstrates some knowledge of the subject investigated.	Poor Planets are not correctly proportioned. The model demonstrates very little knowledge and show no attempt of research.
Presentation	Excellent Student was able to discuss details about his/her project. Student was able to recall a significant amount of facts about all the planets and the solar system.	Good Student was able to discuss details about his/her project. Student was only able to recall a few facts about a few planets and the solar system.	Poor Student was not able to discuss any details about his/her project. Student was unable to recall any facts about any planets or the solar system.
