Squares 1-4: A brief physical and emotional description of four characters are given. The reader understands who four (4) key characters are in the story-who they are and what they are like.
Very Good

The reader gets a good idea of who the top four characters are and what role they play, but not enough information is given to identify what they are like as individuals.
Acceptable

Four main characters are identified but the reader is left wondering who they are, OR what part they play in the story, OR what they are like as an individual.
Need Improvement

It is not clear who the characters are or what role they play in the story. Too much is left to the reader's imagination.

Squares 5-8: Student used four (4) squares to identify four (4) KEY Sequence of Events or Turning Points within the story. Student identifies at least 4 pivotal points in which the key character makes a change. Please use good word choice.

Student left too much to the prospective readers' imagination or did not identify four events leading to the climax or the outcome or resolution.

It is not clear that the student understood what happened in the story.
