Inferences Inference By the end of this lesson students will be able to identify their background knowledge and specific text clues that lead them to draw inferences. This will be assessed through the students ability to use the inferring equation BK+TC=I (Background Knowledge + Text Clues = Inference). Knowledge - Text Clues	Level 1 Does not use the text or uses the text inappropriately to draw an inference.	Level 2 Draws inferences that are consistent with text but only explains them with some information from the text.	Level 3 Explains the source of the inference using information from the text or images.	Level 4 Effectively explains the source of the inference using information from the text or images with great detail.
Understanding - Prior Knowledge	Level 1 Does not use prior knowledge or uses prior knowledge inappropriately to support an inference.	Level 2 Uses some relevant prior knowledge that supports text but misses some details.	Level 3 Connects the text and prior knowledge or ideas to draw an inference ("je sais que...").	Level 4 Effectively connects the text and prior knowledge or ideas to draw an inference ("je sais que...") with great detail.
Communication	Level 1 Answers inferencing question with little to no supporting details and/or not in a complete sentence.	Level 2 Answers inferencing question with a few supporting details but not entirely in a complete sentence.	Level 3 Answers inferencing question in a complete sentence with supporting details.	Level 4 Effectively answers inferencing question in a complete sentence with many supporting details.
