This is the rubric that will be used to assess your project on Gathering Blue. Please read the rubric carefully so that you are not surprised during the assessment.

Project Requirements	Advanced All requirements met, including submitting a Google doc project plan. Student goes above and beyond expectations.	Proficient Most requirements are met. Not every required aspect of the paper was included: possible theme(s), significance of point of view, and what is valued and not valued in the village.	Developing Some requirements are met.	Beginning Few requirements are met. Work does not seem connected to assignment or is late.
Thematic Connection	Advanced The work accurately proposes possible themes that are representative of a deep understanding of the text.	Proficient Work depicts an overall theme and represents a good understanding of the text.	Developing Work generally follows a theme but only show a basic understanding of the text.	Beginning Work does not have a connecting theme nor does it show an understanding of the text.
Originality	Advanced Considerable amount of original thought. Ideas and/or writing are original. Student work is apparent.	Proficient Some original thought, new ideas and insights.	Developing Uses other people's ideas, but little evidence of original thinking. Is not very apparent that student contributed many of his/her ideas.	Beginning Uses other people's ideas, but does not give credit to the source. Hardly any of the work is original. Is not very apparent that student contributed many of his/her ideas.
Craftsmanship	Advanced Crafted with great care throughout; it is apparent that attention to detail has been taken while crafting the project.	Proficient Crafted with care; Some evidence of carelessness or oversight is apparent.	Developing Some carelessness causes project to lack a fully finished quality.	Beginning The final product looks hastily thrown together.
