Contrast Shows a wide range of lights and darks	Unsatisfactory Student did not create contrast with values. Value range is limited.	Satisfactory Student somewhat successfully created contrast with several noticeable values.	Excellent Student successfully created contrast with a wide range of values.
Balance Shows a balanced and pleasing composition.	Unsatisfactory Student did not create balance in the composition.	Satisfactory Student somewhat successfully created balance in the composition.	Excellent Student successfully created balance in the composition.
Skill/Technique Including finger marks and stray marks not intended. Shading is noticeable	Unsatisfactory Materials were used improperly and work was sloppy. Major problems are evident.	Satisfactory Materials were almost always used properly and neatly. Only minor problems are evident.	Excellent Materials were used properly and neatly.
