Persuasive Essay
Students will use evidence from the text to support their thesis statement. Students will work in groups of three and write a persuasive essay to influence the attitudes or actions of a specific audience on specific issues. Students will write persuasive essays for appropriate audiences that establish a position and use supporting details.

The students base their position on reliable evidence that they have proved through their supporting examples.

The student have only two or less of the four paragraphs outlined in the directions.

The students have only three of the four paragraphs that were part of the directions and in the outline.

The student has the 4 paragraphs, but the students did not follow the order from their thesis statement. Some supporting examples are there, but they need to be further supported with more detail/examples.
Excellent
The students have at least 2 body paragraphs along with an introduction and conclusion.
Each paragraph has one reason stated clearly with eviedence/ examples that support their reason. Reasons are clearly stated and are convincing.
