JALC Nursing Assistant Program Clinical Rubric JALC Nursing Assistant Program Clinical Rubric Clinical Evaluation of student performance of resident care in a Nursing Home. Students are required to perform patient care ADL's, and use critical thinking skills while working in the clinical setting. Work Ethic, Communication, Attendance/Tardiness/Safety/ Indirect Care Measures are evaluated. Safety Measures -Locks brakes on bed/wheel chair - Applies gait belt correctly -Uses gait belt for ambulating or transferring. -Does not transfer without instructor or CNA -Uses side rails & elevates bed for care -uses good body mechanics -Leaves bed lowest position -Leaves call light in reach -Watchful potential accidents i.e. spills or broken equipment. Skill Compentency Demonstrated Skills to Instructor per guidelines with confidence.	Acceptable Student able to perform all steps correctly without coaching.	Average Student missed one or two steps but was able to complete with minimal coaching. No violation of safety or infection control.	Below Average Student missed more than 3 steps. Violation of safety or infection control occurred. -Student requires significant coaching to complete skill.	Unacceptable -Missed a major step that involves safety or infection control.
