Fair The writing demonstrates some knowledge of the assigned reading; points to support the topic are sometimes logical; some references from the reading were made, however these references were either vague or not necessarily relevant.	Poor The writing demonstrates little context or knowledge of the reading; points to support the topic are confusing or missing; either no references to the reading were made or they were complete off-topic.
Literary Analysis	Excellent Writing shows analytical thinking; there is a good balance of textual evidence and original thought/commentary;topic sentence is fully supported.	Fair Writing shows some analytical understanding of the text; more textual evidence than original thought/commentary;topic sentence is supported.	Poor Writing shows little analytical understanding of text; too much summary; topic sentence is unsupported.
