English Novel Project 
Students will choose and construct a creative representation of their selected novel from the choices provided: Box, Tri-Fold, or PowerPoint Presentation using the guidelines from the handout provided in class.

Project displays a clear understanding of the characters, plot, and theme in the novel. Student utilized elements from the novel to sufficiently go beyond the novel itself, adding their own interpretation of events, characters, theme, etc.
Good (C)

Project displays a sound understanding of the characters, plot, and theme in the novel, but this understanding may be lacking in depth and/or complexity. Student utilized some elements from the novel to go somewhat beyond the novel itself.
Fair (D)

Project displays a basic understanding of the characters, plot, and theme in the novel. Student did not utilize sufficient elements from the novel to go beyond the novel itself, and/or did not add their own interpretation of events, characters, theme, etc.
Poor (F)

Project does not display an understanding of the characters, plot, and theme in the novel. Student did not extend ideas beyond the literal ideas of the text.

Excellent (A)

Project displays content and details that are truly relevant, interesting, meaniningful, engaging and specific. This student thoughtfully engaged with the details of his or her content.
Very Good (B)

Project displays content and details that are mostly relevant, interesting, meaniningful, engaging and specific. This student engaged with the details of his or her content.
Good (C)

Project displays content and details that are somewhat relevant, interesting, meaniningful, engaging and specific. This student should have more thoughtfully engaged with the details of his or her content.
Fair (D)

Project displays content and details that are limited and not very relevant, interesting, meaniningful, engaging and specific. This student did not thoughtfully engage with the details of his or her content.
Poor (F)

Project does not display content and details that are relevant, interesting, meaniningful, engaging and specific. This student did not thoughtfully engage with the details of his or her content.
Completion of Requirements

Excellent (A)

This project is complete (100%-90%) with requirements from beginning to end.
Very Good (B)

This project is generally (89%-80%) complete with requirements.
Good (C)

This project is mostly complete (79%-70%) with requirements.
Fair (D)

This project somewhat complete (69%-60%) with requirements.
Poor (F)

This project is only half complete (59%-50%).
Effort

Excellent (A)

Demonstrates clear and insightful understanding of the connection to the novel and work as a whole. Effort is obvious!
Very Good (B)

Shows time and thought went into the preparation and execution of the project.
Good (C)

Shows evidence of time, thought and preparation; however, the final result may have been somewhat simplistic in nature.
Fair (D)

Shows little evidence of time in the project. Minimum amount of effort in project.
Poor (F)

Virtually no time or effort put into the project.
Proofreading/Editing

Excellent (A)

It is clear that the student spent time in quality proofreading and editing as the final project (No errors at all).
Very Good (B)

There was definitely effort put into proofreading and editing, however, a few (1-3) errors are present.
Good (C)

The student needs to spend more time in quality proofreading and editing as the final project has too many errors (4-6).
Fair (D)

Comprehension and enjoyment of the project is impaired as the errors interfered with the work. (7-9 errors).
Poor (F)

Clearly, the student did not spend adequate time in proofreading and editing (10 or more errors). This work should not have been submitted yet.
