NEATNESS	Level 4 Manuscript is extremely neat and legible by others	Level 3 Manuscript is clear and legible by others.	Level 2 Manuscript is generally legible by others, but unclear in places.	Level 1 Willing to re-write so manuscript is legible by others.
RHYTHMIC ACCURACY	Level 4 Demonstrates thorough understanding of counting system. Shows creativity and variety with rhythm.	Level 3 Uses correct number of beats per measure.	Level 2 Generally uses correct number of beats per measure.	Level 1 Begins to understand the number of beats per measure.
MELODIC ACCURACY	Level 4 Shows imagination using notes within specified guidelines.	Level 3 Uses notes within specified guidelines.	Level 2 Generally uses notes within specified guidelines.	Level 1 Begins to use notes within specified guidelines.
RULES OF MANUSCRIPT (clef signs, time/key signatures, stem placement/direction, accidentals, etc.)	Level 4 Student consistently adheres to general rules of manuscript.	Level 3 Student adheres to general rules of manuscript with minor exceptions.	Level 2 Student generally adheres to some of the rules of manuscript.
