Theme of Alienation	Target The student meets this learning target by directly stating what the theme of alienation means (can be from journal entry), how it relates to their character, and uses textual support to show alienation of or by their character.	Acceptable The student earns acceptable by defining alienation and gives a few ways it relates to their character. No textual support or quotes are used.	Unacceptable The student has a poor or no definition and only one or no examples of alienation as related to their character.
Character Development	Target To have an on target rating the student defines what traits(values, beliefs, attitudes, actions) their character possesses. These are also evidenced through symbolism, colors on the biography, and quotes from the text.	Acceptable The student earns acceptable by defining character development. The student directly states what traits (values, beliefs, attitudes, actions) their character possesses. No textual quotes or evidence.	Unacceptable The student earns unacceptable by providing a poor definition of character development, or no definition and does not relate this idea back to their character. No examples are provided.
