This rubric will evaluate the participation of a student based on preparedness, behavior, attitude, and accountability for actions.

Active Involvement 25 %	Above Average - A Student is always engaged in the activities. Student participates in class activity and never causes a distraction.	Average - B Student is often engaged in the activity but occasionally needs a reminder to get back on task. Student mostly follows directions with few distractions.	Below Average - C Student is rarely engaged in the activity. Student needs a reminder to get back on task, which can be distracting to teacher/classmates.	Poor - D Student chooses actions that cause them to miss being involved in the class activity. Student is distracting to the whole class/teacher. Lacks focus and doesn't pay attention.	Score
Accountability 15 %	Above Average - A Student completes all activities for the class on time and comes prepared for class.	Average - B Student completes all activities for the class, but sometimes turns in assignments late and is occasionally unprepared for class.	Below Average - C Student has more than one incomplete assignment and frequently comes to class unprepared.	Poor - D Student does not complete required assignments and does not come to class prepared.	Score
Listening Skills 15 %	Above Average - A Student always listens to others when they are speaking. Student is always helpful and respectful to their classmates.	Average - B Student tries to listen to others when they are speaking but needs to be reminded to do so at times. Student is mostly helpful and respectful to their classmates.	Below Average - C Student has a hard time listening to others and therefore needs to constantly be reminded.	Poor - D Student does not listen to others. Consistently interrupts others when they are talking.	Score
Content Acquisition 25 %	Above Average - A Student demonstrated a complete knowledge of concepts and terminology in discussion, classroom activities, and written work.	Average - B Student demonstrated some knowledge of concepts and terminology in discussion, classroom activities, and written work.	Below Average - C Student was unsure of concepts and terminology in discussion, classroom activities, and written work.	Poor - D Student exhibits little to no knowledge of musical content and terminology.	Score
