Knowledge	Poor Student has shown little to no effort in researching pieces and learning about them.	Fair Student shows a basic knowledge of the works selected, but presence of in-depth research is not detected.	Good Student shows a well-rounded knowledge of all pieces included in essay. A basic level of research is present in their writing.	Excellent Student shows and in-depth and accurate knowledge of symphonies. Advanced level of research is present in their paper.
Structure	Poor Student's writing is unclear and detracts from the overall meaning of their paper. Many grammatical errors are present.	Fair Student writing is unclear at times and overall structure of paper is not thought out. Some grammatical errors present.	Good Student writing is mostly clear, with minor flaws is structure and lay out. Little to no grammatical errors are present.	Excellent Student's writing is well thought out and written in a scholarly manner. Structure of paper is good and no grammatical errors are present.
Analysis	Poor Student inaccurately analyzed the symphonies and is incorrect in drawing conclusions between the three works.	Fair Student provides some valid points about the works but the analysis is on a surface level and is very basic.	Good Student provides many good points about the pieces but missed some conclusions between the three works.	Excellent Student discovers intelligent, thoughtful connections between the three symphonies and is able to correctly analyze all three works.
