American Saints

Students will write a research report based on an assigned American Saint. Objectives: To define a saint as someone who strives to follow God's commandment to love him, ourselves, and others; To recognize saints as role models; To begin to develop life goals that reflect the teachings of Christ and emulate the Saints.

Early Years Biography contains the birthdate, place of birth and information about the saint's first third of his/her life. Middle Years Report contains information about the saint's second part (second third) of his/her life.	Good Exceeds the standard Included all important information about the saint's middle years. (Based on availalbe research findings.) Events were in proper sequence and made use of time words. Personal Role Model Report contains a paragraph example how this Saint is a role to you, personally.	Good Exceeds the standard A clear explanantion of why the Saint is a personal role model to you is present.	Fair Meets the standard An explanation of of why the Saint is a role model is present but unclear or doesn't relate to you personally.	Poor Does not meet the standard Little or no explanation given as to why the Saint is a role model.
Legibility Can my work pass the stranger test? Neatness and Cursive Writing	Good Exceeds the standard A stranger would compliment me on my neatness and handwriting.	Fair Meets the standard A stranger could read most of my work.	Poor Does not meet the standard. A stranger would not compliment my work because the writing is difficult to read and my neatness could be imporved.
