Participation (individual grade)	Excellent Student participated, got their job finished thoroughly and helped others in the newspaper process. Student contribution benefitted the group. Content(individual grade)	Excellent Newspaper article shows students' own words and creativity. Article includes appropriate elements: Headline, Lead (5Ws and how + a hook), nut graph. There are few grammatical errors. Article appears well researched.	Good Most of the paper was in the student's own words. All elements of the article are present, but quality is uneven. Few grammatical errors. Some additional research is apparent.	Fair Some parts were not entirely paraphrased and summarized and appeared to be plagiarized. Some elements of the article are missing or incomplete. There is little additional research	Poor Most of the information was copied and pasted and lacked student's own thoughts and words. Newspaper Layout	Excellent Paper looked very professional. Few errors. Pictures and any other creative devices fit the paper perfectly. All elements are present.	Good Paper was organized. Very little grammatical errors. Pictures went well with the content of their stories. Most of the elements are present.	Fair Many grammatical errors/ Pictures didn't add to the content of the paper's news. Missing essential elements	Poor Paper was messy and unorganized. Showed little research A lot of grammatical errors, pictures didn't fit the subject area or were blurry.
