Arguments/Opinion	Needs Improvement Writes a few simple, underdeveloped ideas. Provides very few facts supporting his/her point of view. Is not very persuasive.	Good Shows some understanding of a social issue. Provides some understanding of her/his point of view. Attempts to persuade.	Excellent Writes and develops ideas of some complexity. Includes a counter-argument. Supports his/her view with relevant facts and real examples. Is very persuasive.
Ending	Needs Improvement The writer ends the article leaving the reader hanging or confused. There is no clear summary, recommendation, or call to action.	Good The writer ends the article in the final paragraph by summarizing issues and suggestions for further action.
