Poem of Your Choosing: Definition/Underdog/Narnia

'Your Choice' poems are due on October 19, 2015 and must be a minimum of 1.5 pages typed. Times New Roman. Single spaced with appropriate spaces left for stanza breaks. Final poem must be turned in with the rough draft and brainstorm stapled to it.

Excellent Student's knowledge of the poem's literary style (definition poem, etc.) is clear and appropriately seen in their writing style and approach.
Content How well are you writing about your topic? Is your overall tone and message clear?	Poor The writer has not tried to enhance the poem's depth and create a clear message for the poem.	Fair The writer has made an effort but there is no clear message/tone in the poem.	Good The writer relates some of his/her own knowledge, ideas or experience. A somewhat clear tone and message.	Excellent The writer effectively adds to the poem's depth by drawing on his/her own knowledge, ideas, or experience. A clear tone and message.
Literary Devices How have you made your writing more interesting?	Poor Poet's literary devices (similes/personification) are almost nonexistent and/or are not properly placed in the poem.	Fair Poet has a limited use of literary devices and/or rudimentary literary devices that do not completely enhance the writing.	Good Poet uses some literary devices such as similes and personification but may lack proper development or placement of those devices.	Excellent Poet effectively uses several literary devices such as similes, personification, imagery, etc. to enhance the poem.
Format How have you organized your poem?	Poor Formatting is almost non-existent and does not suit the poem.	Fair Format of the poem is minimal and does not enhance the reader's experience of the content.	Good Format of the poem is done accurately and is organized, but poem may lack creativity or clarity in formatting choices.	Excellent Format of the poem is well crafted and enhances the poem. Format includes appropriate stanzas, line breaks, organization, etc.
Editing/Proofreading Did you read over it and correct spelling and grammar mistakes?	Poor Poem has obviously not been edited or proofread and there are many spelling/grammar mistakes.	Fair Poem is only minimally edited and there are many spelling/grammar mistakes that distract the reader and affect the poem's content.	Good Evidence of editing the poem is seen, but there are several mistakes that occasionally distract the reader from the content.	Excellent Poem is clearly edited and has only a few minor mistakes that do not distract the reader from the content.
