There is a strong subtopic paragraph(s) that relates to the main idea, which includes at least 3 facts as evidence.

There is a subtopic paragraph with a clear idea, but 2 or less facts are included.

Facts are included about the subtopic, but they are not grouped into a single subtopic paragraph(s).

Students did not provide facts for the subtopic or did not have the subtopic in their writing.

There is a strong conclusion paragraph that relates back to the introduction and hook question, and reviews important information to for the reader to remember.

There is a conclusion paragraph, but does not both review key information or does not connect back to opening hook question.

There is not a conclusion paragraph, but just a sentence or two as a closing statement.
