Grammar/ Spelling/Formatting	Good Final draft is clearly edited. All Grammar and spelling is used correctly; few or no mistakes are made. Font and margin sizes are correct throughout the paper.	Fair Final draft would have benefited from another editing session. Some grammar and spelling mistakes are made.	Poor Final draft is clearly unedited. A great deal of spelling and grammar mistakes are made. An attempt at correct font and margin size was made.	Missing/ Unacceptable Spelling and Grammar mistakes interfere with the reading and understanding of the paper. Rough draft is not included or unedited. Font and margin sizes are consistently incorrect.
Thesis Statement	Good Thesis is clear and found at the beginning of the introductory paragraph. Thesis presents a clear, argumentative topic for the rest of the paper.	Fair Thesis is present and in the proper place. Thesis expresses the main topic, however it is not as strong as it could be. It is slightly argumentative.	Poor Thesis is missing or not a true thesis. Thesis does not relate to the paper or express the main idea of the paper.	Missing/ Unacceptable No thesis or main idea is stated.
MLA Format/Bibliography/Source Shee	Good Each reference is properly cited both within the text and in the Works Cited portion of the essay. Bibliography/Source Sheet is included, properly formatted, and at least 5 different resource types were used	Fair Some references are properly cited both within the text or partially cited. Works cited follows some of the rules of MLA format. The proper amount f resources were not used.	Poor References are improperly cited or not cited at all. Works cited is incorrectly formatted or non existent. Bibliography is incomplete and incorrectly formatted.	Missing/ Unacceptable MLA formatting is not used. Bibliography/Source Sheet is missing.
Outline/Research	Good Inspiration outline is complete (handed-in) and layed out well. Research is used properly. Final copy follows the outline.	Fair Outline is finished, but did not follow guidelines. Final copy shows some evidence of using the outline.	Poor Outline is incomplete or incorrectly used.	Missing/ Unacceptable Outline is not used and/or missing.
