Presentation Rubric Poetry Recitation
	Needs Work 1 pts	Approaching Target 2 pts	Target 3 pts	Exceeds Target 4 pts
Posture	Needs Work Student slouches and fidgets while speaking.	Approaching Target Student stands up straight but fidgets occasionally.	Target Student stands up straight and is able to perform with little or no fidgeting.	Exceeds Target Student stands up straight, looks relaxed and confident, and is able to perform without fidgeting.
Pitch	Needs Work Pitch was not used to convey emotion.	Approaching Target Pitch was rarely used OR the emotion it conveyed often did not fir the content.	Target Pitch was often used, but sometimes the emotion conveyed did not fit the content.	Exceeds Target Pitch was often used and it conveyed the proper emotions of the poem.
Volume & Clarity	Needs Work Volume often too soft to be heard by the audience. Student mumbles often.	Approaching Target Volume is loud enough to be heard by some members of the audience throughout the presentation, but has some mispronunciations.	Target Volume is loud enough to be heard by most members of the audience throughout the presentation, with only one or two mispronunciations.	Exceeds Target Volume is loud enough to be heard by all members of the audience throughout the presentation, and all words are pronounced correctly.
Eye Contact	Needs Work Student does not make eye contact with audience.	Approaching Target Student occasionally makes eye contact with the audience.	Target Student maintains eye contact with the audience throughout most of the presentation.	Exceeds Target Student maintains eye contact with the audience throughout the entire presentation.
Memorization	Needs Work Student is unable to recite the poem in its entirety.	Approaching Target Student is able to recite entire poem, but leaves out more than 4 words or lines.	Target Student is able to recite entire poem forgetting only one or two words.	Exceeds Target Student is able to recite entire poem without forgetting any words.
