Teaching about Macromolecules

Each student will ahve the opportunity to evaluate how well their peers explain a macromolecule structure to them. Each student has become an "expert" and will have the opportunity to share what they have learned with others. Each group was responsible for designing a model to help explain the macromolecule and an assessment to evaluate how well their peers understand what was taught.

Organization How well organized the presenter is with the materials and model	Fair The individual is disorganized and not ready to explain the key concepts about their macromolecule; the information presented is not presented in a manner that makes sense	Good The individual is reasonably organized and ready for the presentation, but the order of the presentation is confusing; or the person is not fully organized but the presentation is good and makes sense	Great The individual is organized and ready to get underway; the material is presented in an orgnaized fashion
Enthusiasm How invested the individual is in the presentation	Fair The individual is not engaged in the presentation and does not seem to be interested in the topic	Good The individual is interested in the topic and shows some enthusiasm	Great The individual is interested and very enthusiastic about the material they are presenting
Clarity How well the individual explains the information	Fair The material present is unclear; words are used that are not defined and the presentation is at a level beyond the comphrension of the group	Good The material presented is reasonably clearly; new words are defined and the presentation is at a level that the group can understand	Great All portions of the presentation are clear; new words are defined and the material presented is at a level that the group can readily grasp
Explanation of the Model Use of the model to support the presentation	Fair The model does not help the group understand the molecule	Good The model helps understand the molecule to some degree, but is not as useful as it could be	Great The model is a great addition to the presentation; it helps to clarify the molecules structure or function
Creativity of the Model Design of the model	Fair The model is not creative and seems thrown together at the last minute	Good The model is somewhat creative, but could be better if more time or thought was put into this portion of the project	Great The model is well designed and demonstrates a very creative use of materials. It is obvious that the group has used their time and talents effectively
