Meaning and Originality	Exemplary Poems are creative and original. It is evident that the poet put thought into his/her words and uniquely conveyed his/her ideas and emotions.	Accomplished Poems are thoughtful and creative. A couple of phrases or ideas may be revisited, but the overall product is carefully written.	Developing Most of the poems are creative but appear to be rushed. This is evident in the poet's redundancy or use of cliches.	Beginning Poems appear to be thoughtless or rushed. Work is very repetitive, and ideas are unoriginal.
Sensory Details	Exemplary Vivid, detailed images and intensely felt emotion make the poems come alive.	Accomplished Clear sensory images are used to portray ideas or emotions.	Developing Some use of image, idea, or emotion.	Beginning Difficult to visualize image or emotion.
Form	Exemplary The poems are complete and follow the intended forms. For example: Haikus are properly written, rhyme schemes are evident as assigned.	Accomplished The poems are written in proper form with a few mistakes.	Developing The poems are somewhat written in proper form.	Beginning The poems are not written in proper form.
Format (follows directions)	Exemplary Complies with all the requirements listed in the directions of the project.
