Book Format/Look 20 %	Excellent The book has a cover, title page and is bound together. It looks attractive and is appealing to a child. If the book is electronic, it has a cover that is attractive and the student can effectively present the book.	Good The book has a cover, title page and is bound together. It looks nice, but could be better. If the book is electronic, it has an nice cover page and the student can present the book.	Fair The book has a cover and may be loosely bound together. It may be slightly messy. Electronic books have a cover page, but the student struggles to present the book.	Poor It is messy and may be missing a cover, title page. It may not be bound together. If is is electronic, it does not have a cover page or the student does not know how to present the book in this format.
Audience 20 % The story is to be written for first grade or kindergarten students.	Excellent The story is appealing and appropriate for young students. Vocabulary is easy to understand and age-appropriate. The story is entertaining and engaging to the audience.	Good The story is appropriate and appealing for young students. Most of the vocabulary is easy to understand and age-appropriate. The story is enjoyable to the audience.	Fair The story is mostly appropriate for young students. Most of the vocabulary is easy to understand, but the story does not hold the audience's attention.	Poor The story is inappropriate for young students or the vocabulary is too difficult. The plot and or characters are not age appropriate.

Good The story uses short simple sentences and a variety of tenses in Spanish and is gramatically correct.The story has good flow that makes it sound nice when read out loud. The story has descriptive words, but more needed. The story has good organization but could be better.	Fair The story has short simple sentences in Spanish, but the words may be confusing . An attempt at nice story flow is made, but it is not always successful. Some description is included. The story has a basic plot or organization, but it is not very creative.
