The portfolio doesn't meet the criteria required for the project. The portfolio cover/ thematic art is not evident or well thought out.
Developing "C/C+"

The portfolio is missing most of the required content or student didn't follow the required format. The portfolio cover/ thematic art is messy/not well planned.
Established "B/B+"

The portfolio is missing a few aspects of the required content or format. The portfolio cover/ thematic art appears well planned and is appropriate.
Excelling "A"

The portfolio meets 100% of the required content and format. The portfolio cover/thematic art is fully planned and clearly significant.
Poetry (x2)

Beginning

Work appears to be thoughtless or rushed. Work is very repetitive and ideas seem cliched, impersonal or unoriginal. Poems do not meet requirements.
Developing "C/C+"

The poems are creative, but don't demonstrate a variety of approaches. Poems are not varied and do not meet most of the requirements.
Established "B/B+"

Poems are creative and thoughtful. They are carefully written, but development or craft could go further. Most poems meet requirements.
Excelling "A"

Poems are creative and original. It is evident that the poet put thought into their words and innovatively conveyed their ideas and emotions. Poems meet all requirements.

Beginning

The poems did not include any literary devices such as imagery, sound effects and rhyming pattern. No figurative language was uses such as simile, metaphor.
Developing "C/C+"

The poems use some literary devices and figurative language, but the poems do not appeal enough to the senses.

The poems incorporate several examples of literary devices and figurative language which demonstrate creativity.
Excelling "A"

The project demonstrates varied and often sophisti-cated application of literary devices and figurative language.

The student shows little personality and this portion of the project is incomplete. Few of the required components are incorporated.
Developing "C/C+"

The student shows some personality and this portion of the project is described in some detail. Length is not met. Some of the required components are incorporated.
Established "B/B+"

The student shows his/her personality and this portion of the project is described with many details demonstrating understanding of poetry. Length is mostly met. Most of the required components are incorporated.
Excelling "A"

The student's personality comes through the project. The student has clearly completed it in a unique, powerful form demonstrating his/her depth of poetry. Length is met or surpassed. All requirements are incorporated.
Grammar & Punctuation 25 pts.

Beginning

There are numerous spelling, diction, or grammar errors in the poems and/or paragraphs.
Developing "C/C+"

The poet's intended meaning is muddled by some spelling, diction or grammar errors in the poems and/or paragraphs.
Established "B/B+"

Some spelling, diction or grammar mistakes are evident, but do not diminish meaning in poems and/or paragraphs.
Excelling "A"

Proper use of modern English spelling, diction and grammar are employed consistently throughout portfolio.
Attractiveness/Neatness 25 pts.

Beginning

The poems and portfolio are messy or disorganized. Images are not included or related and does not enhance the project.
Developing "C/C+"

The poems and portfolio show some thoughtfulness in their presentation. The central image was not clearly related to a particular poem.
Established "B/B+"

The poems and portfolio are attractive in terms of design, layout and neatness. The central image is included but not clearly related to the poems. Overall presentation is good.
Excelling "A"

The portfolio is exceptionally attractive in terms of design, layout and neatness. All images used are related to the poems and enhances the overall presentation of the portfolio.The portfolio looks awesome :)
