Understanding	Fair Can understand some of the words but cannot identify the main idea.	Good Can understand many of the words but has some difficulty identifying the main idea.	Excellent Can understnd more advanced vocabulary and easily identifies the main idea.
Recognition Of Complex Speaking	Fair Can only recognize simple sentences and very short passages.	Good Can recognize the main points and meanings of clearly stated speech encountered in work, school, leisure, and short narratives.	Excellent Can recognize a wide range of expressions in more complex narratives and dialogues.
Following Extended Speaking	Fair Can only follow speech which is short, simple, and very slowly pronounced.	Good Can follow more extended speech; spoken at a quicker pace, but not at the standard speaking pace.	Excellent Can follow extended speech delivered in a standard and/or rapid pace.
