Monster Project Rubric

Students create a monster and label a minimum of 10 different body parts in French. Then, they answer a series of 10 questions in French, the answers to which become a paragraph.

Proficient Vocabulary is usually accurate; occasional inaccuracies may occur.	Developing Vocabulary is not extensive enough for the task; inaccuracies may be frequent; may use English words.	Emerging Vocabulary inadequate for most basic aspects of the task.
Grammar	Extending Grammar may contain some inaccuracies, but these do not negatively affect comprehensibility.	Proficient Some grammatical inaccuracies may affect comprehensibility; some control of major patterns.	Developing Many grammatical inaccuracies may affect comprehensibility; little control of major patterns.	Emerging Almost all grammatical patterns inaccurate, except for a few memorized patterns.
Spelling	Extending Good control of the mechanics of French; may contain occasional errors in spelling, grammar, or punctuation, but these do not affect comprehensibility. French Body Parts	Extending The monster includes 10 or more body parts, each different. All items are labeled with the correct French word, including correct determinant.	Proficient The monster includes 9 body parts, each different. All items are labeled with the correct French word, usually including correct determinant.	Developing The monster includes 8 body parts, each different. All items are labeled with the correct French word, sometimes not including correct determinant.	Emerging The monster contains fewer than 8 different body parts that are labeled with the correct French word, not including correct determinant.
Spelling	Extending There are no spelling errors, determinant is always correct.	Proficient There are 1-2 spelling errors, determinant is mostly correct.	Developing There are 3-4 spelling errors, determinant is not correct or is missing.	Emerging There are more than 4 spelling errors, no determinants.
Quality/Effort	Extending The project shows considerable attention to detail and effort, many parts of the body. The monster is very neatly illustrated and colored. Labels are neat and legible.
