Grades 5 Pattern Project Grades 4 Pattern Project Students will create an additive or multiplicative pattern rule, a table of values for the first five terms in the pattern.Students will graph patterns. Patterns	Emerging I did not create an accurate increasing or decreasing pattern.	Beginning I created an increasing, or decreasing pattern using, either symbols, or numbers.	Developing I created two increasing, or decreasing patterns using both symbols and numbers.	Applying I created two increasing, and two decreasing patterns using both symbols and numbers.	Extending I created two increasing patterns, and two decreasing patterns. I used numbers, symbols and variables.
Table	Emerging I did not create an accurate table.	Beginning I created one table for an increasing or decreasing pattern.	Developing I created two tables. One for each of my patterns.	Applying I created 4 tables, one for each of my patterns.	Extending I created 4 tables, one for each of my patterns. I used variables in my table.
Labels	Emerging I did not have titles of labels.	Beginning I had a title for most of my sections. My titles were misspelled or mislabeled in some areas.	Developing I had a title for each of my steps. Each section was labelled.	Applying I had a title for each of my steps. Each section was labelled appropriately, with no spelling errors. My work was neat. Creativity	Emerging My poster was incomplete.	Beginning I used a teacher example pattern. I did not use colour.	Developing I had a creative, self-created, pattern. I used colour.	Applying I used creative, self-created patterns. I used a variety of colour and my work was neat and well thought out.	Extending I used complex, self-created patterns. I used a variety of colour, my work was neat. It was very well thought out and complex.
Graphing	Emerging I did not use a graph.	Beginning I attempted to create a graph, I had a few mistakes.	Developing I correctly graphed one of my patterns.	Applying I correctly graphed two of my patterns. The data was accurate and well organized.	Extending I correctly graphed all four of my patterns. The data was accurate and well organized.
