All required elements are present (sentences developed from each of the 6 sentence frame boxes provided on my "Ensayo: Cuando yo era nino/nina" handout). Excellent

Good

I organize my presentation in a logical manner. I have a title, an opening, and a closing. Organization is evident and ideas are generally connected.
Average

I organize my presentation in a logical manner. I may have an opening and closing, but it may need more work.

Organization is evident and ideas are generally connected.
Poor

I focus mostly on the completion of the task; I do not pay much attention to organization and flow of my story.
Comprehensibility

Excellent

Reader can always understand what I am trying to communicate. Story is easily understood by native speakers. No interference from English.
Good

Reader can understand most of what I am trying communicate. Story is understood, with
occasional difficulty, by native speakers. Possibly some interference from English.
Average

Reader has difficulty understanding what I am trying to communicate. Story is understood with little difficulty by someone accustomed to language learners, but may not be understood by native speakers.
Poor

Incomprehensible throughout making story difficult to understand by anyone who reads it. There are many problems at the sentence level (spelling, wrong word used, grammar, incomplete thoughts, etc.)
Use of Imperfect

Excellent

I clearly demonstrate my ability to correctly use (and form) the imperfect tense. I am able to use a wide range of verbs. Some of my sentences show that I can use two or more verbs (in the imperfect tense) in the same sentence.
Good

I can generally use (and form) the imperfect tense correctly. I make between 1-3 mistakes with choice of tense and/or spelling/accents.
Average

I have a hard time using the imperfect tense appropriately to tell my story. I make between 4-6 mistakes with choice of tense and/or spelling/accents
Poor

I show very little understanding of how the imperfect is used to narrate a story. I have over 6 errors in form and usage.
Other uses of Language

Excellent

I consistently use a wide range of vocabulary.

I consistently use more sophisticated strings of sentences by using a variety of transition phrases.

I can use both the preterit tense and the imperfect tense in my essay. I know the difference between when to use the preterite (when an action that happened had a clear, brief beginning and ending) vs. the imperfect (something USED to happen--either repetitively or over a long period of time).
Good

I use a range of vocabulary that accomplishes the task. (current vocab. from Cap.4A, vocab. from Cap. 4B, and any other previously learned vocabulary) However, I occasionally may be unable to find the appropriate vocabulary.

I tend to use simple, clear sentences with an occasional string of more sophisticated sentences. Some, but few transition phrases are needed to help sentences or paragraphs flow into each other.
Average

I recognize and use familiar vocabulary on a range of topics but have trouble using some words.

My sentences are short and mostly clear. I attempt to add information to clarify or justify meaning, but I don't use any transition phrases.
Poor

I use words, phrases and an occasional simple sentence.

I recognize and mostly use vocabulary that is very familiar to me on a limited range of topics.

I only use the grammatical structures required by this task.

No transition phrases are used like "once in a while", "every week"...etc. (provided on my "Ensayo: Cuando yo era nino/a" handout) in order to help my sentences flow.
Proof-Reading

Excellent

I have proof-read my essay thoroughly. I have no spelling, accent, article (el, la, los, las, un, unos, una, unas), punctuation, subject/verb, or noun/adjective agreement errors.
Good

I proof-read my essay but may have 1-3 spelling, accent, article, punctuation, subject/verb, or noun/adjective agreement errors.
Average

I proof-read my essay quickly and have 4-6 spelling, accent, article, punctuation, subject/verb, or noun/adjective agreement errors.
Poor

I did not proof-read carefully enough because I have more than 6 spelling, accent, article, punctuation, subject/verb, or noun/adjective agreement errors.
