Excellent / Above Average

Creative and catchy introduction and conclusion; purpose of essay is obvious and fulfilled; compelling introduction and profound conclusion. Process to be described is clear as well as author's commentary on the subject and/or relevance to audience.
Good / Pass

Solid introduction that uses catchy intro device; purpose of essay is clear. Essay acknowledges the process and attempts to express relevance or feelings towards the subject but it may not be clearly defined.
Fair / Barely Passing

Basic needs of introduction and conclusion are met though intent may not be totally clear or well developed. Process is present though with very little insight into relevance.
Poor / Not Passing

Intro and/or conclusion is either too short, missing, or confusing. The process is not clear and/or the author has made no attempts to add insight about process.
